TGIF #7

TGIF! is a weekly meme hosted by Ginger from GReads! where you can recap the weeks posts and respond to a question.

Reading Blues: We all get them from time to time. What helps you overcome those reading slumps when nothing seems to grab your attention?

When I am in a reading slump, the only thing I can do is read a book that I can almost guarantee I will love. I know that may seem weird, like how do I know I will love it? Basically, I have a list of several books that are incredibly popular and that I feel confident I would like. Whenever I am in a reading slump, I pick out one of those books and just spend a day reading it. Almost always, it’s fantastic and fixes the problem, but on the rare occasion it doesn’t I just take a day away from reading to do something else and then try again. Kind of weird that I fix reading slumps with more reading, but whatever works, right?

  1. That's a great way to get over the reading slump! I think I'll try it out. :)
I usually re-read a favorite book or do something else!

  2. That's an excellent tip - I'll have to try that because there are so many books I see bloggers recommending that I would love to read.

  3. Sometimes reading something amazing during a slump actually works for me, too! Whenever you're glued to the pages, it's hard to imagine ever being bored of reading and it motivates you to find another great book to read.

  4. I do the exact same thing, so I don't think it's weird at all! (Or maybe we are both weird... hehe!) I like to "save" certain books that I know I'm pretty much guaranteed to love for times in which I am in need of a great read. I have a part of my bookshelf devoted to some of these books, and then I also have samples saved on the Kindle app on my iPad for books that I don't own, but really want to read. Letting myself read one of the books from the special section on my shelf or treating myself to something off my Kindle wishlist always helps me get back into reading!

  5. I never know if I'm going to love a book or not so I'm not sure if that'll work for me. I think reading a book that I've been excited about for a while would probably do it. But in reality, I really just keep reading until I'm not in the reading slump anymore.

  6. Great answer! I do that too :) there are some genres or books by few authors that I'm sure to love! I tend to choose really light and conventional books to read during such times! I didn't do a Follow Friday post this week but felt like stopping by your blog :)

  7. I've done that too, or I return to old favorites because I know they make me happy!

    Thanks for stopping by!
