Waiting on Wednesday #2

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The Diviners by Libba Bray
Release Date: November 6th, 2012

Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-toot-ly thrilled. New York is the city of speakeasies, shopping, and movie palaces! Soon enough, Evie is running with glamorous Ziegfield girls and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is Evie has to live with her Uncle Will, curator of The Museum of American Folklore, Superstition, and the Occult--also known as "The Museum of the Creepy Crawlies."
When a rash of occult-based murders comes to light, Evie and her uncle are right in the thick of the investigation. And through it all, Evie has a secret: a mysterious power that could help catch the killer--if he doesn't catch her first.

I adored Libba Bray’s Gemma Doyle series, but this....well, this has FLAPPERS! The Roaring Twenties = Prohibition! Jazz! Rebellious ladies! ...and now the supernatural! I can’t wait, it’s going to be the Bee’s Knees!

What are you waiting on?

  1. Oh. My. Gosh.

The good thing about blog-hopping is that once in a while you find out something awesome totally unexpectedly. Case in point: This post. I mean, I didn't know Libba Bray was working on a new book! Last I heard, she was working on Beauty Queens, which was published last year, admittedly... but how did I not notice she had something else in the works? And it seems much more like the Gemma Doyle Trilogy (at least with the paranormal aspects) than the past two! I should have found out about it much earlier. D:

Admittedly, I'm more used to Tudor Era and Victorian Era books, but the Roaring Twenties seems like a great era to have as a setting for a book. Considering what a good job Libba Bray did with AGATB, etc., I have faith that this will be great! Of course, seeing that it's going to be released in November is a bit of a downer, but still. I'm incredibly excited now. This definitely is a book I'll keep in mind over the next few months!

Thank goodness for IMM, which led me to your adorable pink site and made me want to read more. This is definitely THE revelation of the week. I'll definitely be checking out your blog often. Can't wait to hear what you think of Vampire Academy too! :)

    1. I’m so glad that I was around so you could hear about Libba Bray’s book! I think it’s going to be phenomenal, it’s just a shame it’s going to be out so late in the year. Hopefully, it will be well worth the wait.
Thanks for checking out the blog and I will work on that review ;)

  2. I need to read something by Libba Bray - anything! I've heard so much about her awesomeness. But I don't know if I should start with her historical series, or one of the contemporary books?

    1. Hm. Well, I am not much of a contemporary fan so I can’t give you much insight on those books, but the Gemma Doyle series is so good! It’s one of those worlds you easily get sucked into and it’s so imaginative that it’s sad when you snap out of it and remember it’s not real.
